Meet Prisca Quadroni-Renella
This week we introduce you to Prisca - a good Swiss mix, as she calls herself. She left her safe employment at a large law firm in beautiful Lugano to start her own business and recently founded a new firm with her husband in Zurich.
Who is Prisca Quadroni-Renella?
I am a Swiss lawyer with an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for technology. My mother comes from the French part of Switzerland and my father came from the Italian one. Today I live in Zurich, so, I could say I am a good swiss mix. After some years in Germany, I grew up in Lugano and then decided to study law in Geneva. I spent 7 years there, during which I graduated, completed a specialization in commercial law and started the traineeship to become a lawyer. I then returned in Lugano some years after in order to support my mother, who had an accident. I became a lawyer and worked for a big swiss law firm in Ticino, but I realized I had my own vision of consulting. I opened my little law firm and it felt so right. After five years of independent work and wonderful successes I met my husband. Together we decided to move and live in Zurich. As I had not found a suitable partner in Lugano to open a branch in Zurich and since I was 6 months pregnant, I took the difficult decision to hand over my law firm to a colleague. Three years after, after two children, working part time for two Swiss Joint Commissions and my improved Swiss German, Corona came, and I felt it was time to start a business again. And here we are: together with my husband, I created a company who helps companies integrating the best technological solutions, in particular artificial intelligence, into their strategy and implementing them taking into account the legal aspects. I believe I am an example of “it’s never too late to start something new”.
Who or what shaped you the most for your professional career?
I think the constant moving and changing school and cities had the greatest impact on me. For a long time, I could not rely on my language skills. I had to develop other skills to understand a situation without relying on words. My mother always told me: “you will find your way, don’t give up”. I became quickly very resilient, and I believe that’s why I don’t suffer in case of changes or difficulties. I try always to find a solution and if it doesn’t work, I try something different. Humor also helped me immensely. All this helps me pushing to pursue what I believe in.
Why are you a bwomen member?
I love to be inspired by other women and get in touch with them. It is nice to have a role model in front of you who can say: “See? never give up!”. I already met some of them since I became a member and hope to be able to help and sustain others on my part.
On which topics can other members contact you and where?
If you have an innovative project or wish to implement a new technology in your business, I will be more than pleased to help. I am also happy to exchange experiences and opinions with anyone interested in these topics.
