Meet Lucy Küng
Today, no company can avoid digital transformation. It is the be-all and end-all for the success of a company. But not every company has jumped on the train yet or finds the process easy once they have. Lucy's name crops up frequently when going digital is the challenge, she is THE expert when it comes to digital transformation. Read more about her in our weekly member profile.
Who is Lucy Küng?
I am British but have lived in Zurich for over 20 years. My professional career has embraced a series of pivots, but I have now ‘landed’ in a hybrid position with a portfolio of activities. My field of expertise is digital transformation, with a particular focus on the media sector. I sit on the Executive Board of the NZZ Media Group (and was previously on the board of SRG), work as a strategic advisor to organisations on their digital transformation strategies all over the globe, and also research and publish books on the field, in part through my role as Visiting Research Fellow at the Reuters Institute at Oxford University. I have a PhD and Habilitation from the University of St Gallen, and an MBA from Ashridge/City University London (my hometown).
Who or what has strongly influenced your professional career?
Probably intense curiosity. My core interest is strategic performance, but I am fascinated by how shifts in the environment, particularly around technology, are transforming the world we live in, and the enormous differences in the extent to which organisations, individuals, and economies master these, or don’t. At root, I am constantly trying to analyse what is happening and sift out of that best practice responses.
Why are you a member of bwomen?
I am a huge believer in pulling together and foregrounding the collective wisdom and contribution of women. bwomen offers an amazing platform to raise their profile, pool knowledge and maximise their contribution, and jointly accelerate their professional development.
On which topics can other members contact you and where?
Digital transformation, reframing business models, and the impact of the platforms are the headline areas I focus on. Recently, I’ve been working particularly deeply on culture change and the growing impact of Generations Y and Z in the workplace. You can find me on LinkedIn or Twitter at @KuengLucy.
